StartHack - Sunrise Challenge

The Start Hack competition was organised as part of the Start Summit in St. Gallen in March 2023, Europe’s most entrepreneurial hackathon with more than 500 international participants. My team won the Sunrise Challenge, which was presented by Tom Spycher and Philipp Spinnler, who developed along with their team yallo TV and Live MySport.

The challenge set by Sunrise: «Join the Revolution: Sunrise Search for the Ultimate Social TV Experience». Create different interaction options for the MySports and yallo TV packages that Sunrise offers.

Our analysis: We analysed the market for TV streaming services and determined catering to the generation Z as the most effective strategic move in order to keep or even increase the market share in the coming five years. But at the same time the current customer base is in average older than 45, consequently any new feature has to be implemented without disturbing the watching experience of the older audience. Further we determined the key needs of the generation Z which a TV streaming service should satisfy.

Our solution for Yallo TV: An optional interactive mode, called Yallo TVX. In the interactive mode the key features are social sharing of short video clips, a commenting feature and live reaction feature. These features have been proven successful in many other social apps, which means that consumers are already familiar using them.

Our solution for My Sports: We proposed gamification of live sports streaming service with an option for the users to predict the outcomes of the matches and compare their results with others.
